The Senator John Heinz History Center is the Smithsonian’s home in Pittsburgh and the largest history museum in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The museum features 250 years of Western Pennsylvania history—from the French and Indian War to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

With the rise of mobile usage, yet limited resources to accommodate a responsive website redesign in 2012—a mobile site was appropriate to accommodate visitors by highlighting key information. The liquid layout is touch-optimized with image sliders, a text-to-donate action, accordion lists for less clicking, and icon prompts for tapping to call or get directions.
